  • Notes
    • The family resided in Dutchess County, New York, not far from the present city of Poughkeepsie, New York, and close to the Hudson River.
During the War of Independence, two brothers were taken prisoners and sent to the City of New York, unknown to the rest of the family.
The treatment of Quaker non-combatants in New England was not less severe than that meted out to their co-religionists in Pennsylvania, as one of the Bull
brothers died from violence and privation, while the other survived long enough to be rescued by his relations, and died soon after.
His son Josiah's family settled in Hallowell Township in Prince Edward County.
His son George's family settled near Colborne in Northumberland County.
