According to "The "Clan" McClure: Historical Highlights", by J. Brian Gilchrist [p. 418], John Hunter McClure went west to Letbridge, Alberta in April, 1908, and lived near New lake, near Cranbrook, Alberta. He returned home in 1909 to marry Mabel Ann Hunter, and the family moved to Cranbrook, Alberta in 1916. John was in the Cranbrook Fire Department from 1918 till his retirement (as Chief) in 1946. After retirement, John and Mabel moved to Burnaby, B.C.
John Hunter McClure and his wife Mabel Ann Hunter were second cousins once removed: Their common ancestors were Thomas McClure (1763-1827) and Jean Brown. Mabel's mother's mother was Jane Mcgill, the daughter of Jane McClure, who in turn was the daughter of Thomas McClure. Thomas McClure was also the great grandfather of John Hunter McClure.
