. George Sisley was married in a Quaker ceremony to Margaret Willson, & the record shows that he was the son of George Sisler & Margaret, who is deceased.
At the time of the Separation of 1828, George Sisley, his wife Margaret & 4 children are identified with the Hicksite faction of the Pickering branch of the Yonge Street Meeting.
They were later disowned for non-attendance of meetings.

. 1885 Jun 4 Family Gathering, - Thursday, one of those happy family gathering too seldom observed, in which youth & age may unite both with pleasure & profit, took place at the residence of Mrs. Sterling, Richmond Hill. In this house reside 4 generations, the eldest member of the household & aged pilgrim, Mrs. Sisley, now in her 89th year (*1), is mother of Mrs. Sterling (*2)
& Mr. Joshua Sisley of that village. (*3)

. The family on this occasion was joined by Mrs. Armitage of Stouffville, age 88 (*4), accompanied by her daughter, Mrs. Woodgate (*5),
Also Mrs. Playter of the Tp. of Reach, aged 85 (*6), accompanied by her niece, Mrs. Jas. Vernon (*7),
& their only surviving brother, Mr. John Willson of Whitchurch, it being the 81st anniversary of his birthday (*8).
The united age of the 3 widowed sisters & brother is 352 years. They are the only surviving children of the late Joshua & Judith Willson, who with their family of 11, came to this country from New Brunswick in 1811, settling on the farm where Mr. Willson still resides.
The party numbered about 30, including several from Newmarket, all of who spend a very enjoyable day - on which will long be remembered.

. Obituary:
Margaret Willson, eldest daughter of Joshua Willson, & Judith Ash, was born December 14th, 1786 at Beaver Harbour, now Pennfield, New Brunswick. Her parents, Loyalists, came in 1783 to what was known at that time as Nova Scotia.
Her father, Joshua Willson was originally from Piscataway in New Jersey. The Willson family moved to Whitchurch Township, York County in 1811.
It was at Whitchurch that Margaret Willson met George Sisley. Margaret was a Quaker & George applied for, & was accepted into, that faith at the Yonge St. location, before getting approval to marry her. They were married on February 18th, 1818.
Margaret & George Sisley are known to have had 7 children who survived to adulthood, 4 sons & 3 daughters. Judith 1818, Joshua 1821, Bowley 1825, Margaret 1826, Catherine 1830, Paul 1832, & Robert 1833.
Margaret survived her husband George by some 52 years & died of old age in Richmond Hill at age 100 years 5 1/2 months 4 days.

Mrs. Sisley of Richmond Hill, on the 14th Dec., reached her one hundredth birthday. The aged lady has 2 sisters living, Mrs. Armitage, of Stouffville, aged 89, 2 Mrs. Playter, of Reach, aged 86, & a brother, Mr. John Wilson, of Whitchurch, aged 82. The united ages of this long-lived family makes 357. The family consisted of 11 boys & girls, & the father was a U.E. Loyalist, who went to New Brunswick during the struggle for American Independence, & came to Ontario in 1811.

. BOSTWICK - In Whitchurch, on the 2nd inst. Mary Bostwick - aged 91 years.
Another pioneer sister has passed away, at the advanced age of 91 years, in the person of the late Mary Bostwick, who died at the residence of her son, Mr. John Bostwick, in the Township of Whitchurch, after a protracted illness of over 4 years, which was borne with Christian patience & fortitude - surviving her husband, John Bostwick, Senr., by some years.
She was born in New Brunswick & came to this Province with her parents, the late Joshua & Judith Willson, in 1811, accompanied by 5 brothers & 5 sisters - of whom 3 sisters & 1 brother survive - whose aggregate ages amount to 315 years, the eldest being already past her 95 birth-day.
The brother, Mr. John Willson, still lives on the farm where the family first settled on coming to this neighbourhood.
The deceased leaves a son & 2 daughters, a large number of grandchildren & also several great-grandchildren, besides a large circle of relatives & friends to mourn her demise.
The service was held at her late residence on the 5th inst., by the Rev. Mr. Wilkinson of Aurora, in a very impressive & comforting discourse, after which the remains were conveyed to the Friends' burial ground, Yonge Street, (laid to rest by the side of the partner of her early years.

. 1861 May 10 - East Riding York Spring Fair, The Union Fair & Ploughing Match of Markham & Scarboro & East Riding York Agricultural Societies, on Lot 37, Con 5, Scarboro, Although a great storm ranged in the morning, & the ground was covered with snow, there was a large attendance, 340 ploughmen entered for competition. The ground elected for the Ploughing Match under more favorable circumstances would have been unequalled in the county, but owing to the rain it proved rather soft & the ploughmen were unable to finish in the style usual. The day was cold & raw, the ground wet & uncomfortable, yet the attendance of spectators was numerous. A dinner for 60 was provided.

. His father, Joshua, Wilson, [ i.e. Joshua, The Third] was a son of a U.E. Loyalty, & settled in Whitchurch in 1821 & died in 1877. Our subject was married in 1861 to Mark Walks of Whitby Twp.; they have 4 children: Ella M., James A. Arthur E & Edgar.

. 1866 Jun18 - Serious Accident - We deeply regret to learn that Mr. Joshua Willson, Sent. & wife met with a very serious accident on Sunday evening last. It appear they, in company with their sons, went to seen their daughter*, wife of Mr. J Mowder Jr, & all went well enough till making preparation to return. the back set in the wagon was not fastened as it should be & while Mr. Wilson & his wife were being seated the horses stepped forward - thus throwing the old couple out of the vehicle - Mr. Willson, inflating, injured his back & shoulder very seriously; but it is thought not fatally. Mrs. Willson fell upon the spinal column of her next, partly dislocating the same & producing paralysis. She lingered till Tuesday last, when death put amend to her sufferings.

AN AGED PILGRIM AT REST - Mrs. Sarah Playter, widow of the late Isaac Playter & one of the early pioneers of Whitchurch, died March 18th at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Silas Vernon, Manchester, Reach Tp.
& borne by 6 nephews her body was on Wednesday last quietly laid in the old Friends' Burying Ground, Whitchurch, beside the remains of her last husband, who died 14 years ago, & those of her many relations, the early settlers of this vicinity.

Deceased died at the age of 89 years & 1 day & was the sister of Mr. John Willson of Union St. now the only remaining member of a family of 11 children who emigrated from New Brunswick in 1811.

JUDGE WILSON, Lot 25, Con 3, was born in NB in 1804, being the son of Joshua Wilson, who was born in New Jersey, of English parentage, in 1756. His father served the Crown during the Revolutionary War, & at its close settled in New Brunswick. He subsequently came to Whitchurch, where he died in 1838. John Wilson was married in 1831 to Agnes Lundy, who was born in 1812 & died in 1881.

. 1894 Obituary
Another pioneer has gone to his reward in the person of the late John Willson who died last Tuesday in his 90th year, at the homestead on Lot 25, in the 3rd Con. of the Township of Whitchurch.
Deceased has been long & favorably known in this town & neighbourhood, having lived on the farm where he died for over 80 years. He was the last of the family of 11 children who, with their parents, moved to Canada from the Province of New Brunswick in the year 1811 & all of whom reached a ripe old age, one sister being over 100 years at the time of her demise.
Our friend not only lived, but helped to build up & make out of the wilderness, homes famed for their hospitality & comfort.
He was ever ready to help the needy & aid the afflicted. He leaves many friends & relatives, besides a family of 7 children, 3 sons & 4 daughters, to mourn his departure.
For some time he had been afflicted with cancer, & although all was done that tender nursing & loving care could do to relieve his suffering, now his patient spirit has gone to meet with loved ones in that brighter & better sphere where pain & sickness can never mar the joys of a heavenly home. The funeral service, which was largely attended, took place at his late residence yesterday & the remains placed in the family plot in the Newmarket Cemetery.

SUDDEN DEATH - A very sudden death took place in Aurora on the night of the 28th last, Mr. Moses Willson, a retired gentleman, who has been living alone for some time past, was found dead in his house on Wednesday. Dr. Hillary, as Coroner, was notified; but concluding death had been caused by apoplexy, did not consider an inquest necessary.

Moses Wilson had a general store & kept a post office called Pine Orchard, over in the corner of the 6th Concession. Moses Wilson was sometimes odd in his ways, & at one time, when advertising his wares in the "Era" told the people he "was not Moses in the bullrushes; but Moses of Pine Orchard." He was a great talker, & his store served as a convenient rendezvous for the neighbours to assemble for local gossip, discuss politics, or express fee opinions respecting the doings of the municipal council.

From no. 7 to 15, some years ago was a wildness where deer & wolf abounded plentifully with out leaving molded? except as stagily? Indian who might pass & by chance find himself in a country section to his state is new bought under an excellent state of cultivation & a beautiful sample of wheat raised thereon & from its height? & confluence appearance will command 5¢ more per bushel than anything enters Toronto Marsh?
From 15 to 25 is very value for its lumber than any other thing else. Its soil being light & sandy the timber hey mostly piece.
From 25 to 35 is entered broken by swamps & creeks a middling soil but rather high for sloped produce that being fall but a small produce to the acre.

N.B. Sir, According to uncovering in may district by roads not being open & my loss of time driving around to get to the different places, I think I am entitled to the full compensation allowed which I believe to be 3 cents per name.

Eldest daughter of George Sisley & Margaret Willson, Judith Sisley married Joseph Catharine Sterling 23 Nov 1842 at Toronto & together they had 9 children.

. 1851 & 1861 Joseph Sterling is listed as an inn keeper in Pickering, an occupation Judith continued when, unfortunately, she was widowed in 1862 leaving her with young children.
Judith died at the age of 92 of shock from a fall.

The remains were conveyed her by train on Monday morning & the funeral proceeded to Hartman cemetery where the interment took place. Biography
. Lardner Bostwick was born in Toronto, Ont., June 20, 1815, & was married March 6, 1843, to Eliza Kennedy. They had 4 children, 2 of whom are now living, Mrs. F. G. O'Brien of Minneapolis, & Mrs. H. A. Nott of Chicago.

. Judge Bostwick died April 13, 1897, age 82 years, leaving a wife, the 2 daughters above mentioned, also a grandson, Edward J. O'Brien, a granddaughter, Mrs. W. O. Wolf, daughter of Mrs. Nott.

. 1843 judge Bostwick moved from Toronto to Chicago, & from thence to St. Anthony Falls in 1850.

He served his first term as justice of the peace in 1852. He was also the fourth judge of probate of Hennepin County; also court commissioner. He served as assessor of internal revenue from 1862 to 1866.

Judge Wm. Lochren, in an article some years ago, on reminiscences of the first lawyers in Hennepin county, says- "Lardner Bostwick was a man of unusual mental power, good literary attainments, & knowledge of the law, & Withal of spotless integrity & commanding dignity in court, while very genial & companionable in his intercourse with members of the bar & others. He was a most efficient magistrate, at a time when, owing to the rough manners of a pioneer community, such a man was needed to preserve order & respect for law."

. Obituary: The Late Joshua Wilson
There passed away at the age of 85, on Thursday, Jan 13th, in the person of Mr. Joshua Wilson, one of the oldest & most widely known of the old time yeomen of Whitchurch Township, where he was widely known for 60 years as a progressive & successful farmer.
Mr Wilson born on May 31st, 1831, was the second son of the late Joshua Wilson, Sr., one of a family of 11 children, who with their father, a New Brunswick, Shipbuilder, & their mother emigrated from that province to Whitchurch Township in 1811.
Young Joshua, following the vocation of his father, & commencing on the homestead farm, ultimately added to his holding the 200 acres on the opposite side of Union Street, where he erected the substantial residence & farm buildings now owned by Mr. Mordecai Starr.
Mr Wilson married in 1861 Miss Mary Walks of Whitby, who with his sons, James Albert of Toronto, Edgar of Roblin, Man., & Mrs. Ella M. McConochie of Aurora, survive to mourn the loss of a kind & ever thoughtful husband & parent. Another son, Arthur E., met with a tragic death by lightning in 1903, while working in a field on the homestead.
Mr Wilson whilst never holding or aspiring to any municipal office, showed much interest in public affairs, & was one of the first members of the North York Liberal Association, in whose interest he was indefatigable worker, being always known as a staunch & unswerving Liberal & an untiring worker throughout each & every party campaign.
Coming to reside in Newmarket some 12 years ago [1904], our aged & esteemed friend owes his death evidently to a fall on one of our icy pavements in December last.
We have seldom had, as a resident, an citizen whose unostentatious liberality was more generally acknowledged than the late Mr. Wilson. Appeals for charity, education & Red Cross purposes always elicited from him instant & invariably a liberal contributor.
The funeral service on Saturday afternoon last, from his late residence, Huron St., was conducted by his late Pastor, Rev. A. Young of the Friends Church & remains placed in Newmarket Cemetery.
