    . 1942 Aug 14 - Mrs Hazel Davis Dies Enroute to an Oxygen Tent.
    Watervliet. funeral services were held in Grand Rapids Saturday for Mrs Hazel Davis, who dies Wednesday night, Aug 5, while being removed from her home to a Grand Rapids hospital. The deceased had long been a sufferer from asthma & was being taken to a hospital to be placed in an oxygen tent when death overtook her.
    Mrs. Davis was 50 years of age & was born near Benton Harbor. She was a daughter of the late Mr Mrs Wm. Siliver, of Watervliet & moved here with her parents in 1900. She attended Watervleit public school & lived here until her marriage to Allen Davis.
    Following her marriage she lived for time being in Belding, Michigan, going from there to Grand Raids.
    Besides the husband, 2 sons & 2 daughters, all of whom are married, the deceased is survived by 3 sis sisters & 1 brother. They are Miss Agnes Silver, Watervleit; Mrs Margaret Woolcott, Miss Winnifred Silver & James Silver, all of Detroit. One sister dies in Watervliet many years ago.

    Mr Silver had been employed by the Detroit Police Dept. 25 years, retiring in 1952. He was a member of the Retired Police Ass. of Detroit & the Watervleit Coloma Rod & Gun Club.

    Surviving are 3 sisters, Miss Agnes Silver, Mrs Margaret Pillinger, both of Watervliet & Mrs. William (Winifred) Fain of Troy, Mich.

    Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Sat. in the Hutchins Funeral Home. Elder Donald Gettys of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Hartford will officiate.
    Burial will be in Waterrvleit cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon on Friday. The family has suggested memorials be made to the Heart Fund.

    Nancy Kay (Baar) Jones, born in Grand Rapids, MI lost her battle with kidney & heart disease on April 27, 2013. She passed away at her home in Cosby, TN while in the care of her long-time friends, Arlene & Gene Rosemeyer.

    The second child of 3 to the late Edward & Catherine (Davis) Baar, Nancy chose to remain close to her family & moved to Florida in 1970 where she lived for nearly 3 decades. She worked for many years as a registered nurse & enjoyed nearly all kinds of crafts. Known for her talent at knitting & crocheting, many of her works will pass down through generations of families. She was also an ardent fan of genealogy, & with the help of her daughter, recently discovered a very distant relationship to the author Laura Ingalls Wilder.

    She was the widow of George H. Jones of Gary, IN. She is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Karen L. (Jones) & Moghis Syed of Orlando, FL, her youngest sister & brother-in-law, Norma J. (Baar) & Charles Butcher Sr. of Bradenton, FL, & her oldest sister Susan Baar of Taunton, MA.
    There will be no formal services held & at her request, Ms. Jones will be cremated. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to either the American Heart Association or the American Kidney Fund in her honor. - - -
