That your petitioners have lived in this Province for the last 20 years in Trafalgar [1799]. Charles Teetzel has a family of a wife 4 children. - during the late war he was employed for 2 & half years carrying his Magestys dispatches between Burlington & York, as by the acc. gen. order of Gen. Drummond. Therefore you petitions pray to grant them a portion of Crown waste land.

    Jonathan Johnston Teetzel died in 1873 & Peter Lawrence (an in-law) & Wm. H. Hughes.

    Judge James Teetzel of Hamilton, Ontario, wrote his family history, speaks of this Grandfather, Jonathan, as a fine Christian gentleman. He was a consistent Methodist & always observed morning & evening scripture reading & prayers with his family of 12 children.
