2. | William JOHN MORELAND (1.Lucretia1) was born on 26 Nov 1850 in Amherst Island, Ontario, Canada; died on 24 Jul 1935 in Consecon, Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada; was buried on 26 Jul 1935 in Pierson Cemetery in Hillier Twp. Notes:
William John was the son of John Moreland and Lucretia Dusenbury.
William John Moreland had been married to Alice May Goodmurphy who died in July 1880.
She was the daughter of William Davis Goodmurphy and Catherine Reynolds.
William John was living in Chatham Township, Bothwell County in 1875, which is between Chatham and Wallaceburg, Ontario. William had an Uncle Samuel who had a farm there.
We are presuming that Wm John and Alice May moved to that area after marrying in Nov 1875.
Sometime later they must have moved back to Prince Edward County, as Alice May died in Sophiasburg.
Her cause of death is bilious vomiting followed by exhauston for 10 days. and she was buried in Glenwood Cemetery in Picton, Ontario.
William John and his brother Roy went to Grand Forks County, North Dakota in 1881, according to the 1900 Census which says he was in the USA for 19 years as of 1900.
Emma (or Amy) went out to North Dakota to marry William John Moreland who was in need of a respectable bride. They were married sometime after 1889.
The 1900 Census has them in North Dakota, but they are back in Prince Edward County after the birth of their son, Cecil B. in March 1902. Family sources say they came back six weeks after Cecil was born in Inkster.
Jean (Moreland) Chase tells the story that has been passed down in her family, that her grandmother Amy did not like life on the frontier and insisted they come back to Prince Edward County.
Davidson and Edith and Cecil were born in Strabane Township, Grand Forks County, North Dakota, USA.
Leila was born in Hillier Twp, Prince Edward County.
Apparently their son, Davidson died at the age of 19 of TB.
There also was a daughter by the name of Beatrice who died in infancy. Again I do not know
the date of birth or death.
Wm John and Amy, and son Davidson, are buried in the Pierson Cemtery in Hillier Twp., in Prince Edward County.
