  1. 1.  Samuel MCCLURE was born about Aug 1818 in Antrim, Ireland; died on 14 Jan 1883 in Chingacousy Twp., Peel County, Ontario; was buried in Page Cemetery.

    Notes:

    From the book "From Wolf's Den to Huttonville", we learn that Samuel came to Canada with his mother and siblings in 1827. "By 1847 Samuel was the owner of Lot 3 on the east side of the 5th line. At various times he acquired an additional 500 acres along this road between Steeles Ave. amd Embleton Road." After his marriage to Mary Smith he built an octagonal brick house. Their four sons, Samuel, Darius, Benjamin and John slept in the upstairs room with clerestory windows. Their only daughter Eliza Jane and her parents occupied the two ground floor bedrooms in the centre of the house."

    Samuel served as Justice of the Peace for the Huttonville area.

    Samuel married Mary SMITH on 2 Jul 1856 in Chingacousy Twp., Peel Co.. Mary died in UNKNOWN; was buried in Page Cemetery. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Notes:

    According to "From Wolf's Den to Huttonville", Darius was a Justice of the Peace, like his father. He was prominent in the agricultural and political life of Peel County. After retiring from farming, Darius, his wife and their daughter Louva ran the Victoria Hotel on Main Street North in Brampton. Darius and Millie served as judges in many fall fairs.

    Darius and Millie are buried in Park Lawn cemetery in Toronto.
