. 1931 Jul 23 - Holmesville. The deaths occurred in Toronto on Wed. of last week of Mrs. James P Burnett, who was formerly Mary Jane Phipps of Goderich township, a member of a well known family. The funeral took place Friday from the late home on Symington Ave. to Mount Hope Cemetery, Galt.
Mrs. Burnet had been in failing health since last all & her death was not entirely unexpected. Mrs Burnet was a cousin of Mr W Marquis of the Base Line, Goderich Twp.
Mrs. Barnet was born in Pickering twp., being a day. of the late Stillwell Phipps. When she was about 10 years of age the family came to Goderich twp. & she spent her girlhood & young womanhood here. About 25 yers ago she went to Toronto & 15 years ago was united in marriage to her now bereaved husband.
She is survived also by 3 brothers & a sister: James Phipps of Manitoba, Stillwell of Saskatchewan, George who had been staying there her in Toronto & Mrs Frank Swallow of Bowmanville.

Mr. George Phipps, who has for several months been in the employ of The Gunn, Langlois Co.. at their local plant, left on Tuesday to take a position on their big poultry farm at St. Williams, Norfolk County Mr. Phipps was reluctant to leave Clinton where he has many fiends & which he regards as the home town.

. 1933 Feb 23 - George Phipps passed away in Clinton hospital after only a few days illness. The deceased was son of the late Stillwell Phipps & his wife Mary Rice. He was born in Pickering in the year 1864 & while still lead his parents moved to Goderich Twp. where he had resided most of the time ever since.He spent quite a number of years in the poultry businesses at St. Williams, Ridgecrest, Goderich & other places. Since last May he has made his home with this cousin Wesley Marquis of the Base Line.
Mr. Phipps was member of the Methodist Church & since Union of the United Church. He was of a very quite & thoughtful disposition, always thinning of others glad to lend a helping hand whenever possible. It might well be said of him that those who know I'm best, loved him most. the funeral, which took place from the home of Mr. Marquis, Base Line on Saturday afternoon, was under the auspices of the Masonic Order, Maitland Lodge, Goderich, of which he was a member & Clinton Lodge uniting at the strive.
He leaves to mourn his passing one sister, Aggie, Mrs. Frank Swallow, Bowmanville & 2 brothers James of Darlingford, Manitoba & Stillwell of choice land, Sask., also 12 pieces & nephews. Interment was in Clinton cemetery, the pallbearers being fellow Masons.

1918 January 22, Mr & Mrs. Lawrence C Phipps left Denver Monday for Baltimore last evening, having received a telegram announcing the death of Mr. Phipps elder brother, Albert J Phipps of Baltimore, who died at Jacksonville, fly, about 3 o'clock the morning of Jan 21. He was in his 64th year & had enjoyed the best of health until his recent illness. He leaves a widow. He had not been engaged in any active business for some years past.

His wife was at the bedside when the end came. The body will be brought to Baltimore for burial. Mr. Phipps retired from active business about 5 years ago & since then hand resided on Edmondson ave. Catonsville. He was 56 y. old. He was a nephew of Henry Phipps who found the Phipps clinic at own Hopkins Hospital. He is survived by a widow, Mrs. Katherine Emma Phipps; 2 daughters; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth P Hunter of Pittsburg, PA, & a brother Lawrence C Phipps, of Denver, Col.

Carsonville, May 17. Funeral services were held in the home this afternoon at 2:00 p.m. for Mrs. Albert Phipps, 57, who died suddenly early Monday evening. Rev. Joseph Blackmore, pastor of the M. E. church, officiated, with burial in Washington cemetery.
Mary Jane Laughlin was born May 14, 1876, on the old Laughlin farm a short distance from where she died. She is survived by her husband, a brother Arthur Laughlin, of Detroit; & a sister, Mrs. W. H. Anderson, living on a farm near here. She was well known here & in the surrounding community and her sudden passing is a shock to all who knew her.

Carsonville, Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. June 22nd for Albert J. Phipps. Mr. Phipps, 81, & a native of Huron County, Ontario, died at his home on Wednesday, June 20th, following a long illness.
He was born on November 29, 1869 & came to Sanilac county in 1881. Mr. Phipps' wife the former Mattie Laughlin, whom he married in 1901, died in 1934.
The funeral service, conducted from the Carsonville Methodist church by the Rev. Leslie Coliver, was followed by interment in Washington cemetery.Survivors include 4 brothers, Herbert & Allan Phipps, both of Carsonville; Harvey, of Port Huron & William, of Sandusky; 3 sisters, Mrs. Clara Gingrich, Carsonville; Mrs. Ernest Hawes, Applegate; & Mrs. Joe Miller, Detroit.

Carsonville, June 6 - Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. from the Pilgrim Holiness church of Applegate for Mrs. Janet Adelia Gingrich, 71, who died Monday after an illness of three weeks. Rev. Orville Smith, pastor of the church, officiated, assisted by Rev. Ellis Fenton, of Carsonville Methodist church. Burial was made in Washington cemetery.

Mrs. Gingrich was born Sept. 9th, 1873 in Clinton, Ont., & had been a resident of Carsonville since 1940. She had been a member of the Pilgrim Holiness church for over 20 years.

She is survived by six brothers, Albert Phipps, Herbert Phipps, Allan Phipps, Harvey Phipps, & William Phipps, all of Carsonville; Oliver Phipps, Applegate; three sisters, Mrs. Clara Gingrich, Mrs. Margaret Hawes, Applegate; & Mrs. Maud Miller, Detroit.
