Tithecott has John Fortescue's death in 1415 at Meaux Put-le-Dome, in Auvergne, France. However the Book on the Fortescue family by Thomas Fortescue Lord Clermont says that John served under Henry V at the Battle of Agincourt in 1415, and that in 1422 he was made governor of the Province of la Brie, whose capital was Meaux. He was said to return to live at Shepham in Devon in 1431, and became known as John Fortescue of Meaux. John married Eleanor NORRIES in 1409 in Devon, England.
