      Petition of Guisbert Sharp, Township of Fredericksburgh, County of Lennox, your petitioner at the commencement of the American War, adherent to the British Government, in consequence of which I was imprisoned at different places, in the now called United States of America & as early as was in power being charged with a heavy family, I came to this Province, with my family & the small remains my enemy left me as will appear by the Certificates accompanying this petition.
      Wherefore your petitioner begs that your Excellency will pleased add me on the UE List & grant me such a portion Crown Lands as your wisdom may think proper to grant & permit Mr. John Lutlor, Town of York to be his agent to locate the same & take the Deed when completed.

[Sept. 1791].
      Sworn before me a Fredericksburg this 22 Jan 1811, N.J. WXXXer, JP, & Guisbert Sharp.

Personally appeared 19 January, 1811 before me the undersigned, Justice of Peace, Under Campbell, who duly sworn Maketh oath & saith Gilbert Sharp, Twp. of Fredericksburg, on account of his loyalty & adherence to the British Government was taken prisoner at Fiskkiln in 1776, conveyed abroad a vessel to Fiskkiln where the deponent made his own escape & left the said Gilbert Sharp in confinement.
      Sworn before me at Adolphustown, Mildland district the first above written, Alexr. Fisher, JP & Signed, Alexr. Carrefokal [blurry ink]
      Envelope: Cannot be grant, not having joined the Royal Standard. Read in Council 12.9.1811. Imprisoned for his Loyalty, came to this Province about 1791.

      UCLPetition 155, S Batch 3, p518,C2809, Petition of John Sharp, as a private soldier in Major Jessops Regiment in the late war. He retuned to Colonys to settle some private affairs, was detained longer than his intentions lead him, by sickness &,other unforeseen casualtys.
      Upon his return of Upper Canada he found the Lands drawn for him on account of his services, to be appropriated to the use of another individual.
      He therefore prays to be indulgent as to grant him Lands for himself & family as are allowed to such as served His Majesty with America. Also permit him to locate Lot 12?, Con 1, Glousester Twp., lying upon the River Rideau.
