    Jacob married Eliza Henzel* on 25 Mar 1835 in Westminster, Middlesex, Ontario. Eliza (daughter of John Hansel and Catherine Wilkerson*) was born on 06 Mar 1813; died on 10 Feb 1839. [Group Sheet]

    Notes:

    Dale 13
    Eliza was the daughter of John Hensel and Catherine Wilkington. Her father was shot defending Fort George in May 1813 and died from his wounds at DeCew a few days later. Eliza was 2 months old. Her mother remarried and became the first wife of Richard Tunks. [Sid Prior notes]

    Apparently Eliza's grandfather, Andrew Hansel (d. 1818) had a will in Thorold Twp; among other things, he left "to my grand daughter only daughter of my son John deceased two hundred acres in the Township of Uxbride being Lot 4 in Concession 4" [http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/NIAGARA-ONT/1999-05/0926876842]
    Her marriage to Jacob Dale was witnessed by Calvin Burtch & Richard Tunks

    -she probably died in childbirth when son John was born 1839

    [Sid Prior]: John Hansel was shot while defending Fort George in May 1813; he died from his wounds a few days later at DeCew, near Thorold. He is buried at Beaverdams Methodist Church

  1. 12.  Andrew Hansel was born in 1747 in Ducy of Pau, Hessen-Cassel, Germany; died in 1818 in Thorold, Lincoln, UC.

    Notes:

    He immigrated from New Jersey, USA in 1787 with 4 siblings and their families. They probably left in the summer of 1787 and travelled up the Hudson River to Albany. From here they turned west and followed the Mohawk River Valley and then Indian trails to Niagara, where they crossed the border into Upper Canada
    Over his lifetime he acquired some 1000 acrtes of land in Lincoln, now called Welland County. It was on part of his property that the battle of Beaverdams was fought during the War of 1812.

    Andrew married Christina Maria Flach in 1780 in Oldwick, Hunterdon, New Jersey, USA. Christina was born about 1753 in Germay, Haute-Marne, Champagne-Ardenne, France; died in 1829. [Group Sheet]
