- [HCM, p. 742]: William Brient...was born on the old homestead in 1821, and in early life learned the art of tilling the soil. He was united in marriage to Miss Grace A. Lemon, daughter of John and Rachel Lemon. To Mr. and Mrs. Brient were born six children - John W. (deceased), Jane (deceased), Rachel A., Susan, Mary (deceased), Emma. After marriage Mr. Brient settled on a part of the old homestead, and now owns 350 acres of that land. He is an industrious, hard-working man, and one of the county's first-class citizens. He and wife oare members of the Baptist Church, as are all his children. Mr. Brient has assisted greatly in developing the resources of the county, and has done a great deal in church and educational matters. He is a man who is well respected by all acquainted with him.
