Mrs. Sarah Fanny Acton, wife of Donald L. McLean died 3 April 1962 at her home in Brooke Township. Besides her husband, she is survived by her children, Elmer Roy and Fonda Freda at home, Mrs. Arthur Hern (Mildred Mardel) of London, grandchildren, Sandra, Carol and Lois all of London. Body is at J.N. Black Funeral Home, Alvinston where service will be held Friday at 3.30 p.m. Burial will be in Alvinston. (Note: Sarah born 1880. Donald McLean 1877-1970).

Alvinston 29 April 1941: William J. Acton, a well known farmer of this district, died last night following a short illness. Mr. Acton who was about 65 years of age, was born in Brooke Township a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Acton. He farmed all his life a short distance from Alvinston. He is survived by a brother, Fred Acton of Calgary and five sisters. Eliza and Florence at home, Mrs. D. McLean of Brooke Township and Mrs. Roy Dohner and Mrs. Leila Archer of Omaha Nebraska. Funeral arrangements have not been completed. (Note: William born 1873).

In Twilight Haven Petrolia on Wednesday 3 January 1968, Bertha Lett, wife of the late James Acton in her 92nd year. Dear mother of Mrs. Pearl Westgate, Sarnia. Russell of Monroe, Michigan, Mrs. Rosena Johnston predeceased. Mrs. Mae State predeceased, thirteen grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive. Watford 4 November 1925: The funeral took place Monday of one of the pioneers of the township of Warwick, James Acton, aged 89 who died at the family residence on the sixth concession, on Saturday Saturday 31 October He was born in Ireland and came to this country when a boy of 12, settling with his parents in the forest on what is now th townline of Warwick and Brooke townships, where he has lived for the past 76 years. Survivors are: three sons, John and Joseph, both of Brooke, and Duncan at home; four daughters, Mrs. William, Logan, of Brooke township, Mrs. Robert Scott at home, Mrs. William Atkins, of Edmonton, Alberta, and Mrs. Fawcett, of the 'township of Bosanquet. The funeral was held from the family residence, where service was conducted by the pastor, Rev. Forbes . J. . Rutherford, B.A., of Bethesda. United Church, assisted by Rev. S. J. Thompson, of Erie street United church; Watford, Interment took place in Watford cemetery, six grandsones of the late Mr. Acton, acting. as pallbearers, Clare Logan. Fred Acton and Clayton Acton, all of Brooke township, and Wilfred Fawcett, Earl Fawcett and Arnold.Fawcett, all of the township of Bosanquet.

MARGARET (ACTON) MOFFATT
Mrs. Margaret (Acton) Moffatt died 25 January 1924, age 30 years, 1 month, 1 day. The entire countryside was shocked on Monday evening when it was learned that Mrs. Gordon Moffatt, Brooke and Warwick townline, had expired very suddenly from heart trouble. Mrs. Moffatt who appeared to be in even better health than usual the past few months was busy preparing the evening meal when her husband who was using the phone, turned in time to see her fall to the floor. Death was apparently instantious. Mrs. Moffatt was second daughter of Mr. John Acton who resides on Lot 8 Con 6 S.E.R., Warwick. Besides her husband she leaves one five year old daughter Doris, her father and two brothers and four sisters. Fred on the farm adjoining his father, Clayton at home, Mrs. George Bell (Mabel) of Sarnia, Miss Ella, teacher in Kerwood School, Mrs. Roy Shea (Rheat) 6th line and Miss Estella at home. The funeral was held on Wednesday afternoon to Watford Cemetery, service being conducted by her paster, Rev. J.L. Foster of Brooke Methodist circuit. The pallbearers were Fred and Clayton Acton, Elmer and Hiram Moffatt, George Bell of Sarnia and Mrs. Cunningham of Toronto. The sincere sympathy of the entire community goes out to the members of the bereaved families in their hour of sore affliction.

It is our sad duty to record the death of Charles Arthur Janes who passed away about midnight on Friday 5 February 1932. Deceased had been in failing health for some months but the end came with rather unexpected suddenness. He was born on 7 March 1877 and hence was nearly fifty-five years of age. The greater part of his life was spent on the farm where he died, his mother having moved there from Delaware with her four boys when all were quite young. His passing is deeply mourned by the whole community, where his kindly and cheery manner won for him the affection of both old and young. His whole life was an example of true Christian living. He was a devoted member of Bethesda United Church and a constant attendant there when in his health. For many years he was Supertendent and teacher in the Sunday School. He was a member of Court Pearl No. 306 C.O.F. Two brothers, Samuel of Watford and Frank of Vancouver, B.C. survive. One brother Albert died in 1902 while a member of the Royal Canadian Lounted Police. Also his wife formerly Miss Emily Acton is left to mourn the loss of a loving and devoted husband. Funeral service were conducted at his home 6th line on Monday 8 February by Rev. G.M. Chidley, and his body was borne to its last resting place in Watford Cemetery by five nephews. Clayton and Orville Acton, Clare Logan, Arnold Fawcett, Earl Janes and a cousin John Bryce.

FRANCES (ACTON) FAWCETT
One of Lambton County's oldest residents, Frances Fawcett age 106 years of Forest passed away on Friday 22 November 1975 at the North Lambton Rest Home. A lifelong resident of the area Mrs. Fawcett was active almost to the time of her death. Longevity was a family trait, with two sisters living to 96 and 104 years. She was the wife of the late John Henry Fawcett (1939) and is survived by two sons, one daughter, Earl of Forest, Arnold and Mrs. Stanley Anderson (Reta) both of Bosanquet Township, also surviving 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildres and one great-great grandchild. Predeceased by a son Wilfred (1933) and by four sisters, Mary, Linda, Emma and Sarah, and three brothers, John, Joseph and Duncan. The funeral service was held at the Ronn E Dodge Funeral Home, Forest on Monday with interment in Beechwood Cemetery. (Note: Frances 1869-1975. Husband John Henry Fawcett 1865-1939)

ELDON JOHN ACTON
Eldon John Acton, son of the late Fred Acton and Mrs. Irene Acton, collapsed on a bus in Vancouver, B.C. a week ago Monday and later died. He was in his 46th year and as a boy attended the 6th line Public School, before entering Watford District Hich School. After attending Westervelt Business College in London, for one year he joined the Confederation Life Insurance Co., staff in that City. Later he moved to Brantford where he worked for 14 years before being transferred to Winnipeg. His next stop was at Windsor being employed there for three years. He had only moved to Vancouver a month ago. Mr. Acton is survived by one sister Mrs. Ronald Grieve (Margaret) of Essex and two brothers Carmen of Corunna and Raymond of Sarnia. A brother Keith died five years ago while service with the Air Force in Germany and another brother Duncan also predeceased him three years ago. Funeral service was held in Vancouver last Tuesday with a Memorial service being held the following day at Cortam Baptist Church, near Essex, with Rev. Dalymore officiating.

Ernest Orville Acton, aged 76 years of 84 Warwick St. Watford, passed away Friday 16 April 1982 in Victoria Hospital, London. He was the dear husband of ada (Coristine) Acton and dear father of Norma of London, Ronald of Strathmere, Alberta and Carol of Vancouver, B.C. The funeral was held at the Harper Funeral Home, Watford on Monday afternoon with Rev. R. Peebles officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Don Skea, Doug Acton, Jim Gregory, Bruce Fisher, Michael Mitchell and Lloyd Moffatt. Interment was in St. James Cemetery, Brooke Township.

Watford 3 April 1930: Duncan Acton, a young farmer of the 6th line of Warwick township, died at his home Tuesday. For the past three years Mr. Acton had been in poor health. The entire community of south Warwick, was saddened last weekend by the passing, of Mrs. Ray Shea. 52, at her home on the 6th line west after a. few months illness following an operation. She was born 52, years ago as Reta Muriel, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John and resided in this community throughout her life With her family she was an active member of Bethesda United church organizations. Surviving are her husband, one daughter Mrs. William Harrison of Sarnia, three sons. Jack, on an adjoining farm, donald and Lloyd at home, also her parents Mr. and Mrs. John Acton, threc sisters, Mrs. George Bell, Sarnin, Mrs. Oliver Harris and Mrs. Irwin Carrothers both of Adelaide twp., and two brothers Frcd and Clayton Acton, of Warwick. Funeral service was conducted Monday afternoon at the fanilly home by Rev. W. H. Killam of Bethesda, and St. Andrew's churches and interment was in Wyoming Cemetery. Pallbearers were six nephews. Lorne, Kenneth and Duncan Acton, Richard and Ronald Smith of Plympton and Kenneth Bryce of Warwick. Flowerbearers were six neighbors. Funeral service was held on Monday 11 July from the Harper Funeral Home, Watford for Mrs. John Acton of Warwick Township who died in London hospital on Saturday 2 July. She was the former Mary Westgate of Warwick. Surviving are three daughters and two sons. Mrs. George Bell of Sarnia, Mrs. Irwin Carrothers and Mrs. Oliver Harris, both of Kerwood, Fred and Clayton of Warwick Township. Her husband died in 1954 and two daughters some years ago. The Rev. P.D. Cameron of Central United Church officiated. Interment was made in Watford Cemetery. Pallbearers were six grandsons. Duncan, Kenneth and Carmen Acton, Lloyd, Donald and Jack Shea.

Mrs. Melinda (Acton) Logan, widow of the late William G. Logan, who died in 1930 and a resident of Watford for the past 12 years died suddenly from a heart attack shortly after noon on Friday at her home on St. Clair Street. She was in her 75 year and had been in failing health for some months. She was a member of Erie Street United church and of the Women's Association. Surviving are one son and one daughter. Clare Logan and Mrs. Leander Foster (Mabel) both of Brooke Township, also four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. There are also two surviving brothers. John Acton of Warwick and Joseph Acton of Watford and four sisters; Mrs. Henry Fawcett (Fanny) of Forest, Mrs. Will Aitken (Sarah) of Edmonton, Mrs. Mary Scott and Mrs Emily Janes both of Watford. The funeral service was conducted at her late residence on St. Clair Street on Sunday at 3 p.m. by Rev. Edward Lacey of Erie St., United Church and interment was in St. James Cemetery, Brooke Township. The pallbearers were Clayton Davidson, Joseph Ruth, Ross King, Walter Eastabrook, Haroild Greer and Russell Watt. The flowerbearers were Gordon and Clare Cran, R.V. Davidson, Earl Davidson, John Watt, Ivar King, Kenneth Sifton and Russell Gilliland. Friends and relatives attended the funeral from Detroit, Sarnia, Brigden, Alvinston, Glencoe, Forest, Strathroy and Thorndale.

The news of the sudden passing of Mr. Acton from burns suffered in a
fire at his home, 140 Bright St., Sarnia was received with deep regret by Petrolia
friends. Although the cause of the fire had not been definitely determined, the belief is
held by fireman and physicians that Mr. Acton had been smoking a pipe while in bed and
that sparks from it had set the bed clothes on fire. His pipe was found on a table near
the bed. A week after he was retired from long service with the C.N.R. all that was mortal
of Thomas Acton was laid to rest in Hilsdale Cemetery, Petrolia, on Thursday last. A large
number of citizens from this community, where for many years he was a prominent farmer of
Enniskillen Township joined with their friends from Sarnia in the funeral which was held
under the auspices of the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen of America. The services at the
Acton home and the grave were conducted by the Rev. Dr. J.J. Coulter of Sarnia.
Born in Warwick Township near Watford in August 1868 he moved to Enniskillen Twp., in his
youth and began farming on the 10th Concession east of Petrolia. As a young man he took
more that a passing interest in civic affairs of his municipality and in 1897 he was
elected Councillor. He was returned the next two years and in 1901. He filled the Deputy
Reeve's chair in 1902-03 and the reeveship in 1906-07. He left the farm in 1910 to become
a provincial police officer at Sarnia, leaving the force to work at munitions during the
war. Eighteen years ago he started work in the CNR Shops in Sarnia and shortly after he
was promoted to car inspector for the Sarnia yards which office he held until his
retirement. Surviving are his wife, formerly Annie Hall, three daughters, Miss Marcella
Acton of Detroit, Mrs. H. Pierce of Port Huron and Mrs. Stanley McNeal of Sarnia' two sons
U.L Acton of Kirkland Lake and Latimer Acton of Sarnia and two sisters, Mrs. George Boddy
of Detroit and Mrs. Margaret Fisher of Sarnia.

Mr. William Martin Smith, 74 years of 477 Princess St., Petrolia, died at the C.E.E. Hospital on Thursday 24 March 1988. Born in Petrolia, the son of the late Harry and Lucie Smith. Mrs. Smith worked as a pipefitter for 14 years at Canadian Oil in Petrolia and 23 years at Dow Chemical in Sarnia. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife the former Doris Knight, a daughter, Mary Louise Acton of Sarnia, grandchildren, Heather (Mrs. Michael Smith) of Sarnia, William Acton of Kitchener and Michael Acton of Sarnia, brothers Walter of Sarnia and Glenn of Petrolia and sisters Mrs. Mary Palmer of St. Thomas, Louise (Mrs. Lyle Bailey) of Petrolia and Jean (Mrs. Peter Walko) of Petrolia. Mr. Smith was predeceased by his son James in 1956 and brothers John and Roy. Mr. Smith was a member of Christ Anglican Church, a member of the Church choir and a former warden and former board member. He was a veteran of the Canadian Navy. Funeral services for Mr. Smith were held on Saturday 26 March 1988 at 11 a.m. at the Needham Jay Funeral Home, Petrolia with Canon George Menzies officiating. Interment was in Hillsdale Cemetery, Petrolia. Pallbearers were; William and Michael Acton, Michael Smith, Robert Snyder, Robert Goodacre and Jim Winder. As expressions of sympathy, donations are being made to the Christ Church Memorial Fund or the C.E.E. Hospital Foundation.

Mrs. Mary Jane Acton aged 85 years of Watford died 12 Febuary 1976 at the Watford Nursing Home. Frederick Acton 68 years, a lifelong resident of the 6th line, west of Watford collapsed and died in a sudden coronary of Monday morning at his home. He was a son of the late John Acton, one of the best known pioneer families. Surviving are his wife, formerly Irene Anderson and a family of five sons and one daughter. Keith, with the Canadian forces in Germany, Duncan of Woodstock, Eldon of Brantford, Raymond and Carman of Sarnia and Mrs. Ronald Grieve (Margaret) of Plympton Township; also three sisters, Mrs. George Bell (Mabel) of Sarnia, Mrs. Oliver Harris (Ella) and Mrs. Carruthers (Estelle) both of Adeliade township and one brother Clayton of Warwick. The body rested at Harper Funeral Home, where service was conducted this Wednesday afternoon by Rev. E.B. Toffelmire of St. Andrew's Church and interment was in Watford Cemetery. Pallbearers were Robert Capes, Herbert Thrower, Austin and Grant Kelly, Clifford Sisson and Lloyd Moffatt.

WATFORD, June 21.-(Special) --Funeral services was held today for Joseph William Acton, a life-long resident of Watford and: Brooke township who died Sunday 19 June 1949 morning at his home in Watford at the age of 83 years. A son of the late James Acton and Ellen Watson of Warwick township, has been in failing health for the past few months. Prior to retiring to Watford 15 years ago, he was engaged in, farming. He was a member of Erie Street United Church and took a keen interest in all church and community activities. Surviving are one son, Orville of Brooke; Three grandchildren, Norma, Rorfald and Carroll, one brother, John Acton, of Warwick township, and four sisters, Mrs. Mary Scott, Watford; Mrs. Fanny Fawett, Forest; Mrs. Emily Janes Watford, and Mrs. Sarah Aitken, Edmonton, Alberta. His wife, the former Caroline M. Williamson, and a daughter, Verna, predceased him some years ago. The body is at the Harper Funeral Home from where funeral services were held today at 2.30 p. m. CAROLINE (WILLIAMSON) ACTON
The death of Mrs. Caroline Williamson Acton, wife of Joseph Acton, took place yesterday at her home on Ontario street. Mrs. Acton died following a lingerine illness of two years. Mr. and Mrs. Acton moved to Watford six years ago from their farm in Brooke Township. Surviving are her husband and one son Orville of Brooke Township, two brothers, Benjamin of Brooks and Clifford of Train B.C. One of the saddest deats recorded in this community in many years occurred early Sunday 25 September 1927 when Mrs. Hiram Moffatt, Brooke-Warwick townline passed away after an illness of less than two weeks duration. Mrs. Moffatt who had just passed her 27th birthday, was one of the most popular young women in the community. Prior to her marriage a few years ago, she was Verna E, Acton, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Acton, and after graduation from London normal, taught school on the Main road until her marriage. Throughout her short life she has been identified with all the young people's activities in the district, and in her own school section and Bethesda Church particularly, she will be sorely missed. The removal of such a devoted young wife and mother will be very keenly felt by her husband, her three year old daughter, Helen Margaret, her parents and her only brother Orville. The funeral, which was held from her late residence on Monday afternoon, was attended by the largest number of sympathizing friends ever witnessed in this district. Services were conducted by Rev. F.J. Rutherford pastor of Bethesda United Church and Rev. J.H. Hosford, rector of St. James Church in which church yard interment was made. One of Watford's most highly esteemed residents for nearly
half a century, Mrs. William Mitchell, passed away at her home on Front street on Sunday
in her 74th year, Mrs. Mitchell had not been in good health for several years. Born In
1855 at Nappan, Cumberland County, in Nova Scotia, she was Sarah Agnes Holt, youngest
daughter of James and Agnes West Holt and is the last of her family. She came to
Ontario with her parents as a child of eight years, and after a few years in Thamesford,
east of London, moved to Brooke Township and later to Watford where she has resided for
the past 45 years, In 1879 she was married to Mr. William Mitchell who predeceased her 20
years ago. She is survived by three children, Mrs. W. J. Shearing of Tillsonburg, Miss
Blanche Mitchell of the Tillsonburg Collegiate Staff, and Dr. W.T.B. Mitchell, who is head
of the department of mental hygiene at McGill University, Montreal. The funeral services
were held at her late residence on Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. T. W. Hazlewood,
pastor of Erie St. United church, assisted by Rev. A. W. Hone pastor of St. Paul's
United Church, Tillsonburg. Interment was made in the family plot in Watford Cemetery. The
pallbearers being six nephews; Kenton and Fred Mitchell, Clifford and Absolom Lucas,

The death of Duncan McLachlan, a pioneer resident of the 12th line, occurred on Wednesday of last week, (7 January 1925) at the age of 71 years. Deceased was horn in Argyleshire, Scotland, and came to Canada when only two years old with his parents, who settled in Enniskillen in 1855, when the Country was almost a tractless forest. They cleared the land and when his parents were gathered to their fathers he continued living on the homestead. In 1900 he marrie Ellen Bartley, of the adjoining township of Plympton, who with one daughter, Vera. survives. He is also survived by three brothers, Alex. of Brantford, Donald of Enniskillen Township, Dugald of Petrolia, and one sister Mrs. Jane Hume, Petrolia. The funeral was held from the family residence on Friday afternoon and was attended by a large number of friends and relatives who knew him for what he was, a man of sterling worth. The services were conducted by the Rev. Douglas Woollatt of Copleston, assisted by Rev. A. Murray Stuart of Petrolia. DONALD McLACHLAN
Donald McLachlan one of the well known and esteemed residents of Warwick died at his home 2 lind N.E.R. on Monday morning 12 May 1925 aged 67 years. His health has been failing for some time and on Tuesday the 12th while at work in the gravel pit he was taken with a severe hemmorrage of the stomach, from which he never rallied. He is survived by three brothers, Duncan in Montreal, John in Winnipeg and Allan on the homestead. The funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon to St. Mary's cemetery, Warwick Village with a very large attendance of relatives and friends.

The death occurred on Thursday of Duncan McLachlan one of the oldest pioneers of Middlesex. The deceased was in his 83 year and had spent his life on his farm on West Williams and Adelaide townline. Mrs. Sutton was apparently in good health and was visiting at the home of her niece, Mrs. George Miner of that place when she was suddenly stricken. She was a daughter of the late Archibald McLachlan and Catherine McLeish of Arkona and was born in East Williams. Her husband G.A. Sutton predeceased her ten years ago at Northville, Michigan where she had been a valuable member of the Baptish Church. Three years ago she took up residence in Sarnia and has been a member of the Devine Street United Church. She had also resided for several years in Petrolia. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Colin Gillis of Arkona and Mrs. C. Core of Sarnia and three brothers, Hugh, Alexander and George of Edmonton, Alberta. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. Douglas Swan is Thrown to Roadway When Team of Horses Runs Away at Farm Home.
The funeral was held this afternoon of Douglas Swan, three year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Swan who was instantly killed Saturday afternoon when he was thrown from a wagon. The service was held at the residence of his grandmother, Mrs. Arthur Swan on the tenth concession west of Brooke Township and was conducted by the Rev. J. H. Hosferd of Watford. Interment was in St. James' Church cemet- ery, Brooke Township. The boy had been riding in the farm wagon and the horses were driven by his 15-year-old cousin Gordon Swan. The horses ran away and when the infant was thrown from the wagon he struck his head on the roadway which caused a fractured skull and a broken neck. Mr. and Mrs. Swan had moved back to Brooke Township from Watford two weeks ago and the husband had been working in Windsor, and arrived home for the weekend shortly after his infant son was killed.

Joyce Routley (Muxlow) Sharp of 464 St. Clair Street, Watford passed away peacefully in C.E.E. Hospital, Petrolia on Friday, April 24th, 1998, in her 73rd year. She was the beloved wife of J. Bruce Sharp, and loving mother of Ruth Anne McCabe of Corunna, Joan Lester of Wyoming, and Robert and Heather Sharp, and John and April Sharp, all of Watford. Also survived by 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Zelia Woods of Watford, and Phyllis Ward of London. Predeceased by one grandson Brent McCabe, and two sons-in-law, Ron McCabe, and Jack Lester. Edward I. St. Pierre, a longtime resident of the Port Lambton area passed away in the Sydenham District Hospital in Wallaceburg on Tuesday, April 25, 1995, in his 83rd year. Edward was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Port Lambton, a past member of St. Vincent De Paul and the Knights of Columbus. He had farmed for many years in Lambton County, and had worked for the Lambton County Roman Catholic School Board, and he also drove bus for over 15 years. He was the beloved husband of the late Lauda Rose (Gagnier) St. Pierre, and dear father and father-in-law of Alma and Stan Chalupka of Alvinston, Francis and Janet of London, Omer of Wyoming, Maurice and Jean of Oil Springs, Mary Lou and Warren Milliken of Corunna, Margaret and Casey Hendrikx of Emo, and Charles and Emily of Petrolia. Loving grandfather of 19 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Vitaline (Mousseau) St. Pierre, a grandson, Marc St. Pierre (1990), six brothers and two sisters. The Funeral Mass was held on Friday 28 April at 10.30 a.m. from Sacred Heart Church, Port Lambton, with close family friend Fr. M. Orville John Willidm Shugg of Ottawa passed away in Saint Vincent Hospital, Ottawa on Thursday, October 24th, 1996, in his 90th year. He was the beloved husband of Margaret Sibbald (Brown) and dear father of Alan, Cathy and Margaret, and beloved grandfather of, Christopher and Sarah Stein, Rebecca Davidson, and Christopher Paul Shugg. Orville was a Lambton County farm boy, a Nelson B.C. Journalist, a Canadian Broadcasting pioneer, and the origina- tor of the CBC Farm Broadcasts. He received the Canadian Association for Adult Education Award for his role as co- founder of the National Farm Radio Forum, a developmental model now in use in nations around the world. Orville was the director of Public Relations for the Dairy Farmers of Canada and also the director of Sales Policy and Planning, CBC. He retired in 1973 as special assistant to the president. A memorial service was held on Monday, October 28th at 2:00 p.m. from Kingsway United Church, Ottawa. The death occurred at his home, Railroad Street, Alvinston on Saturday afternoon 21 January 1922 of William Shugg a pioneer resident of this district. Deceased had bben in ill health for the past two weeks, having suffered several paralytic strokes.The late Mr. Shugg was born in the Niagara district in 1841 coming to Brooke at an early age. He was a prosperous and much respected farmer of this township and made a host of friends. He moved to town a few years ago, where he has lived a retired life. Besides a widow, formerly Miss Badger, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Thomas Wall and Mrs. Wellington Annett of Brooke and Mrs. L. Hanna of British Columbia also one son, W.M. Shugg of Brooke. Another son Elmer have predeceased him a year ago (1921). The funeral which was largely attended, was held from his late residence to Alvinston Cemetery.

Charles Edward Swartz, well known farmer of the 10 con Brooke Twp., died suddenly in Strathroy hospital on Sunday, in his 66th year. Mr. Swartz collapsed from a stroke at the funeral service for a lifelong neighbor, Mrs. Wm. Taylor, at Mt. Carmel cemetery on Saturday afternoon. Surviving are one son, Raymond, and one daughter, Mrs. Orville Hall (I1ene) both of Brooke; also three sister: Mrs. G. S. Chantler, London, Mrs Elva McLachlan and Mrs. Fred Levitt of Brooke; and four brothers: Albert, Nelson and Glen, of Brooke, Burnell of Strathroy. Mrs. Swartz predeceased him three and a half years ago. Funeral service was conducted at his late residence, lot 12, con. 11, Wednesday afternoon with Interment in Alvinston cemetery.
