SCOTS' ANCESTRY RESEARCH SOCIETY

In the 1960's a collaborative genealogical project was launched which sought to explore the family history of the children of Sylvester Campbell and Helen Mason as they emigrated from the Aberdeen area in Scotland to Ontario, Canada in the mid 1800's. As part of this research the Scots Ancestry Research Society, based in Scotland, was retained by Mary Ann "Dolly" (Campbell) Innes to research the ancestors of Sylvester Campbell (1853-1909). This research was carried out and reported by Patricia Baxendine, a noted genealogist resident in the United Kingdom. This analysis was developed using the "old parochial registers" in the Aberdeenshire area of Scotland and traced the lineage of Sylvester Campbell (1853-1909) back four generations into the early 1700's. In July 2010 a complete copy of these research documents was supplied by Brian H. of Calgary, Alberta which authenticated previously discovered partial versions, received from Betty W. (Coe Hill, Ontario), Marjorie D. (Bancroft, Ontario) and Fran E. (Washington, USA), as originating with Mary Ann (Campbell) Innes, an individual from Brian's family tree. In September 2010 an original "1960's working copy" of these documents was obtained from Sylvester C. (Cobourg, Ontario) which supported the assumptions derived from an analysis of the previous documents and placed them in their historical context. These documents from the Scots Ancestry Research Society were incorporated into the 1960's Campbell-Isaac Genealogy Project through contact between Mary Ann (Campbell) Innes and Maud Isaac, a resident of Port Hope, Ontario, Canada and a principal in the project in Ontario. The final report of the Campbell-Isaac Genealogy Project, including the documents from Mary Ann (Campbell) Innes, was widely circulated in the late 1960's to Campbell and Isaac family members in Canada, Scotland and beyond, as well.
